Surrogacy has been in practice for over the ages, mothers would carry children for nine months and hand them over to beneficiaries after birth. Nurses are generally of great importance during this period where they function as guides and provide care for surrogate mothers and infants during and after pregnancy.
When these children are born they give happiness to the recipient families. But to the infant and the surrogate mother, there is a huge loss. The natural tender mother loves that exists between mother and child is not natural because of their separation.
According to utilitarianism actions are right when they promote happiness and wrong when they promote pain (Singer, 1993). It follows therefore that the infant and surrogate mother will suffer and endure pain as the recipient couple enjoys.
