The international labor organization was started by the United Nations to cater to the human rights of the workers, by promoting opportunities to decent and productive work in conditions of freedom, equity, security, and dignity. Started in 1919 by some private professionals who had known each other through ideological networks, it has over the years been a great tool for championing labor rights in and around all countries in the world.
The International Labor Organization is governed by an executive body of the international labor office. They meet three times a year to make decisions for the International Labor Organization policy and also make the agenda of the International Labor Conference.
The governing body is made of government representatives worker groups and employer group representatives. Over the years the governing body of the International Labor organizations has categorized labor standards conventions and recommendations.
This was largely of a technical nature and with the advent of globalization pressure was built to improve them with the inclusion of labor organizations from different countries.
