The various religious wars that were fought during the middle ages had different impacts on western civilization. The realization that man had the right to worship in any church marked a period of awakening that made people realize they could be free.
Additionally by the end of the thirty years war it was evident that political governance and religion were not twin sisters after all and needed to be left to be governed by different personalities. The end of the war also marked the onset of the spread of the gospel by different churches to different parts of the world. Although the wars involved many deaths and casualties, as well as massive destruction of property we can at least say they led to the acquisition of the freedom to worship for every man.
