Essay: Colonial Administration

To start with, the way of the colonial administration was purposed to oppress the natives by violating their rights through harsh treatments such as transporting the offenders to overseas courts, depriving them the freedom to trade with other people and imposing heavy taxes on them among others.

As such, the most important method of preventing further misuse of the citizens’ rights was to establish provincial congresses, a governing body chosen by the people that would enhance democracy rather than dictatorship.  Secondly, the citizens who wanted a change further advocated for the removal of the officials, who were colonists, from the parliament in order to get full independence to make their own laws.
