The Bogle’s rejection of advertising to attract and retain customers has greatly assisted the vanguard group towards achieving its goals and become the most successive group after outrunning all of its competitors despite them having large amount of capital and resources. By cutting on their advertising expenses has given vanguard low cost advantage compared to its competitors who spend most of their on advertising and lower their profits. Despite the criticism of the means utilized by Vanguard to reach on its customers such as word of mouth and public promotions. The methods later proved to be effective as the group’s cost was much lower compared to its competitors giving it a cost advantage that none of the other companies have been able to meet. Therefore, we can conclude that Bogle’s rejection of advertising was great achievement to the Vanguard group up to this day.
